Welcome to SoftPeelR! This page provides a quick overview of tournament configuration in SoftPeelR.
In this quickstart presentation, we are going to configure a tournament that has 16 teams. The first 3 rounds of the tournament are played in Round Robin mode, with the teams being divided into two groups - Group A and Group B.
After three rounds, the tournament becomes a knockout competition, with the top three teams from each group progressing to the quarter-finals.
On the home page of SoftPeelR, click on Tournaments and then on the New Tournament button.
A form with basic information about the tournament is proposed which must be filled out. After completion, press Save.
There are two selection boxes.
We can now start entering key tournament information, e.g., teams, sponsors, match rules and sheet information.
To get to the edit page, you can select Edit Details in the main menu bar, under the tournament name.
Let's start by entering information about the participating teams. Click on the Edit button associated with Registered Teams.
The New Team button creates a new form for a team. You must enter at least one player for each team.
For each team entered, press Save. Then New Team for the next team.
You can always team names and add players at any stage in the tournament. The main menu contains a quick link to the list of teams, with an edit option.
The match configuration stores key information about matches. It allows the system to deduce when a match is over, and thus when it can update rankings and match schedules.
The options for Extra Ends? are No, Single extra end and Extra ends until winner. We select no extra end since the first 4 rounds are Schenkel, with 1 point going to each team in the event of a draw.
The Time Limit have only information here. They are used by SoftPeelR Scoreboard where the SoftPeelR controls the timer on the scorebaord.
In this example, we set the number of ends to 8, and then press Create Configuration.
SoftPeelR manages sheet information during a tournament. When it creates a round of matches, it assigns a match to a sheet on which the participating teams have played least. Thus, we need to configure the sheets for the tournament - specifying the number of sheets and their names.
Return to the tournament's edit page, and select the Edit associated with Sheets. This brings you to the page with the list of sheets for the tournament. On this page press the New Sheet button, which opens the page shown opposite.
You only need to assign a sheet name. (The second field is for SoftPeelR Scoreboard). Once the name has ben given, press Save. In this example, I create 4 sheets named A to D. The tournament is now configured, and we can create matches!
This brings you to this page you must select the mode of the round.
In our running example, Round 1 is Schenkel. Select Schenkel from the options list and press Create.
The Create button of the previous page brings us to the page shown opposite.
Press the Add Group button to create a group. A mini-form for each group appears that we fill out as shown in the next step.
For each group created, we assign a name, a data/time for the matches, and the list of teams.
We fill out the teams by dragging a team from the list on the left-hand side of the page to the group. In this example, each group has been assigned eight teams.
Now go to Round 1 under the main menu and create the matches.
The page of Round 1 has a tab for each group created with the list of teams.
The Modifer Tour button allows you to edit the settings of the round.
There are two ways to create the matches. The first is to use the Create Group Matches buttons, which creates the matches for the current group. The Create Matches button - highlighted opposite - creates the matches for all groups of the round. We use the latter button in this example for Round 1.
This gives this window. Note that the matches can be modified. This would be useful for instance if the draw for the tournament has already been made. Press Save when you are ready.
Note how SoftPeelR has taken care to assign the matches to different sheets.
You can go back to the Round 1 page under the main menu and you are good to go! You can now start entering match scores.
To enter scores for a match, you only need to go to the page of the match. There are two page formats for matches - the standard PC view and the tablet view shown opposite. The tablet view is used on mobile phones, as well as iPads and Android devices.
The tablet works like an ordinary scoreboard. To register a score, just drag and drop a scorecard over the end for the team. If you make a mistake, just put the scorecard back and place the correct card.
You can change the team to whom the hammer is assigned by dragging the hammer icon over the team that possesses the hammer. The stone colors can be changed by clicking on the Changer les couleurs icon.
For matches that measure the LSD of teams, the tablet presents a button to allow you to enter the LSD values.
To create Round 2, repeat steps Create Round 1 and Select Round Mode. However, on the Create Round page, press the button Options Available.
This opens this pop-up. Since we are going to use the same group compositon, select the first option and press Create groups.
To create Round 2's matches, repeat steps for Create Round 1 Matches. Once again, SoftPeelR proposes a series of matches, as illustrated opposite.
Two points to note:
You can print results for Round 1 group matches by going to Round 1's page and pressing the See Group button. This yields a printer-friendly view of the group, with results, ranking and next round matches.
After 4 rounds, we create the round that includes the quarter finals, semi-finals and finals. We create a round as for Create Round 1 Matches. However, in the Select Round Mode step, we select the option Knockout.
The create round page contains a list of teams. Press the Create Draw button. This provides the following popup asking us for the number of teams. We enter 8 and press Draw Table, yielding the page opposite.
We drag and drop teams from the list on the left to the quater-final match positons. We are now ready to create the matches.
Once the teams have been allocated quarter-final positions, we can create the matches on the Round 5 page.
However, we first need to modify the match rules for the round, since there are no tie games. Click the Match Rules button, and update the match rules as done in step Enter Match Configuration. We set the Extra Ends? option to Single Extra End.
We can now come back to the Round 5 page, and click the Click Group Matches button to create the quarter-final matches.
Once the quarter final matches have completed, the draw updates itself as shown opposite. To create the matches, go to the semi-final tab on the Round page and press Create Group Matches.
The same procedure is followed for creating the final match.
